Bokononist Last Rites
Bokononnika Ültum Mlaas
This text is completely conculturally inapplicable, but it was fun to translate. The original text of course comes from Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle".
|Bokononnika ültüm mlaas:
Yad sloz ǧaduioš.
|The Bokononist’s last rites:
Ki ya waisuvidve östrudem mirek asmeba sloza foc ašem.
Sunezeč ya, sunezeč sloz.
Sloz e ya waisuvidve Yad heraišna vliveč kitrud miriom.
Aya ravo, a Yad!
Loz egva mukure ralöč, a Yad! Zeremie ya mu ralöm že.
And I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around.
Lucky me, lucky mud.
I, mud sat up and saw what a nice job God had done.
Nice going God!
Nobody but You could have done it, God! I certainly couldn't have.
So lokem sravnibza ba mimühimai kantrim.
Focyem bile mühim kantrekrhot, waisuvidve östrudem mirek mu asmebza sloz karjek če.
Andaǧ moraim, ki sloza ǧasad ankošin moraiš.
Ver serefu lon žigim!
I feel very unimportant compared to You.
The only way I can feel the least bit important is to think of all the mud that didn't even get to sit up and look around.
I got so much, and most mud got so little.
Thank you for the honor!
Lud sloz retrom yečadve nümiš.
Kuya zairinuti nui slozom ančez!
Kuya ǩokeč piǩir waisuvišna atručeč sloz strečaim!
Miriomna paikuin yuviom!
Now mud lies down again and goes to sleep.
What memories for mud to have!
What interesting other kinds of sitting-up mud I met!
I loved everything I saw.
